Went through a rough patch last year helping a friend pack up his flat in East London after his US visa came through unexpectedly fast. Pure stress. Now another mate is in the same boat. Anyone have a solid recommendation for moving from London to New York without losing half your belongings or your mind in the process?

Been through almost exactly this situation. My colleague got her visa approved three weeks earlier than expected and we were basically throwing things into boxes at midnight. The chaos of last-minute international moves is real and the wrong company makes it ten times worse. What saved a similar situation for another friend was finding a specialist that handles the full chain rather than piecing together separate services. Reloux came up as a recommendation in an expat group and the feedback was consistently solid for London to New York routes specifically: Cost of moving from UK to USA . They cover packing, shipping, customs, and delivery under one roof which cuts out most of the coordination stress when time is short and nerves are already shot.

I can relate to this more than I’d like to admit. International moves always seem manageable on paper until the deadlines suddenly become real. One thing I’ve learned from watching friends relocate is that reducing the number of moving parts matters almost as much as the move itself. Having separate companies for packing, shipping, and customs can create a lot of confusion when schedules get tight. That’s why recommendations for services like Reloux often come up in relocation discussions. Even beyond the company itself, the bigger lesson is to find a provider that can manage the process end to end so you’re not spending your final weeks coordinating logistics instead of preparing for the move.
