Our mission is to increase the collective impact of our member organizations on education and economic development outcomes in the Austin community of Chicago. We carry out our mission by developing shared leadership and collaborative initiatives around Thrive 2025, ACT’s ten-year plan the four critical collective impact goals.

Project Description

One of ACT’s four Thrive 2025 goals is to place 2,790 Austin residents in living wage careers by 2025. ACT’s Career Connect Coordinator works with ACT member organizations to create pipelines for Austin residents into specific industry sectors such as Advanced Manufacturing, Information Technology, and Hospitality. This involves working closely with staff from our member organizations to orient their clients to different careers, assisting them in applying for training programs, tracking referrals between programs, and supporting their progress toward attaining jobs with career potential.

Position Description – Project Coordinator

The primary role of the Project Coordinator is to manage a coordinated intake/referral process that assists households out of poverty by helping working age adults identify career interests, assess their skill levels, and enroll them in proven job training and readiness programs. More specifically, the Project Coordinator is responsible for carrying out the following duties:

  • Establish healthy working relationships with front-line staff members and administrators at ACT member organizations and other community partners
  • Work with partners to organize monthly Career Connect orientations with their constituencies
  • Execute the coordinated intake process, including intake assessment, screening, and referrals
  • Provide counseling and case management services for potential training-program participants
  • Assist all pipeline agency partners in referring individuals who do not qualify for Industry skill-related training programs to appropriate support services;
  • Connect training-program participants with additional supports as necessary
  • Present data reports summarizing results of coordinated intake and referral to the Austin Workforce Collaborative with data reports and facilitate action learning on a monthly basis

Qualifications

  • The Project Coordinator should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Social Work, or a related field; and 2-3 years experience in Community Engagement or Workforce Development;
  • The position requires familiarity with the Austin community and a proven track record with working with hard-to-employ population;
  • Proficiency with excel and data management, email marketing and social media tools, and ability to use web-based tools;
  • Must be able to manage time, have a high level of self-motivation, and be highly organized.
