Checked my TransUnion credit report and noticed a balance on an old account that should have been closed months ago. The other credit bureaus have it updated, but TransUnion still shows it as active. Wondering if these kinds of updates take longer with them, or if I should submit a dispute to get it corrected?
Had something similar happen when I was reviewing my credit reports. Two bureaus showed the correct balance, but transunion customer service still had an old account listed as open. They explained that updates depend on how often lenders report to them, and sometimes it takes longer for changes to show up. I ended up filing a dispute online, and within a couple of weeks, the report was updated. Now I make it a habit to compare all three reports regularly since small differences like that can stick around longer than expected.
This was a helpful perspective. I’ll try approaching it that way next time. Thanks for pointing it out.
