Slightly off-topic, but does anyone here do boxing training?

Hi everyone! I’ve just started getting into boxing and I’m trying to figure out what gear I should buy. If anyone has experience with boxing or recommendations on choosing the right equipment, I’d love your advice.

If you’re just getting into boxing — welcome, it’s a great sport! For starters, you don’t need to buy the entire pro setup. The basics will be enough:

    1. Gloves — 12–14 oz for beginners. Make sure they fit snugly and have good wrist support.
    2. Hand wraps — absolutely essential to protect your knuckles and wrists.
    3. Mouthguard — even for light sparring or pad work.
    4. Jump rope — perfect for warming up and improving footwork.
    5. Bag gloves or training gloves — depending on whether you’ll mostly hit the heavy bag or do pad work.

If you’re planning to track your progress, your workouts, or even create a routine, many people now use training apps. I’ve recently seen a detailed breakdown of how such tools are built by companies offering fitness app development services — here: https://www.cogniteq.com/sports-software/fitness-apps. It helps understand what features are actually useful for boxers, like punch tracking, timers, and conditioning plans.

But overall — keep it simple at the start. Once you get comfortable, you’ll figure out what extra gear you actually need. Happy training!
