My daughter dropped her phone and now the screen is black, but it still vibrates when messages come in. I’m hoping it’s just the display, not the whole phone. Has anyone dealt with this before and managed to save the data?

My daughter’s phone did that after a drop: black screen, vibrations still working, and no recent backup. I didn’t want someone to immediately say “replace the phone,” so I looked for phone repair shops where I could explain the symptoms in person. The useful part was that they checked whether the phone itself was alive before talking about the screen. It turned out the display had failed, not the whole device. She kept her photos, and I didn’t have to buy a new phone that week.
