I’ve never used carbomer before, so I ordered one that’s approved by Ulta and Sephora as a cleanser. I received it this morning, ready to test!
Any tips, tricks, or ideas for using this product? I was planning to start with a simple gel and then try adding it to a lotion. Then I’ll try making a gel scrub.
Tara Lee has a few videos where she uses pre-neutralized sodium carbomer, but I wasn’t able to order it because the only place I found it was sold out for months.
But I’m really excited to try it out.
Start simple. Make a small gel with water, let the carbopol be swollen completely, and then neutralize it with a small amount of alkali or baking soda. This will turn it into a jail. After that, you can add oil, extract or lotion to make your own cosmetic product. Start with small parts and gently adjust the thickness and pH. High quality carbopol is suitable for gels, lotions and scrubs. This is a great option to experiment with homemade cosmetics. This makes it easy to adjust the texture, add various active ingredients and make products for any skin requirement.
