Austin Coming Together (ACT) provides backbone support for a broad network of private, public, and non-profit organizations that share a vision for a thriving Austin community. Our mission is to increase the collective impact of our member organizations on education and economic development outcomes in the Austin community of Chicago. ACT and our members have created a long-term strategy called Thrive 2025; a blueprint for collective impact over the next 10 years. Position Description:

The Marketing & Development Associate reports to the Marketing & Development Manager and is responsible for managing relationships with our 50+ member organizations; as well as supporting all communications and fundraising on behalf of ACT that will contribute to the overall improvement of service delivery for Austin residents.


  • Write content for the ACT website, advertisements, quarterly newspaper sections, flyers etc.
  • Compose the weekly Activities In Austin email.
  • Perform improvements to the organization’s website and content management systems.
  • Design marketing and communication materials for events and other development efforts, including presentations, media advisories, and press releases.
  • Plan publicity strategies that build and maintain a good image for the organization.
  • Respond to inquiries from the public, press, and communication partners.

The qualified candidate must have these competencies:

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field
  • 2-3 years of related experience
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Extensive internet research abilities, and experience with data management
  • Unafraid of communicating with new contacts in-person and over the phone
  • High level of self-motivation and ability to multitask
  • Proven ability to learn new software
  • High energy
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Passion for community development
  • Eagerness to help the team and polite, professional office behavior

This is a part-time contract position that requires up to 32 hours a week. The Marketing & Development Associate is expected to work evenings and weekends as necessary. Compensation is $16 per hour.
